This program will update After Dark version 2.0v to version 2.0w.
After Dark 2.0w is compatible with System 4.2 through System 7.1.
(If you have an After Dark version other than 2.0v, or if you own “Star Trek: The Screen Saver,” see below.)
You ONLY need this Updater if you have one of the new Macintosh models that require System 7.1. As of this writing, this includes the Performa 600, Macintosh IIvx & IIvi, and the PowerBook models 160 and 180, Duo 210, and Duo 230. If you upgrade an earlier Macintosh model to System 7.1, you do NOT need to run this Updater.
HOW TO USE THIS UPDATER:
NOTE: Virus detection programs may alert you that changes are being made to files on your computer. Tell your virus program that this is acceptable, or temporarily turn it off or remove it before you run this Updater.
Before you run this Updater, your current copy of “After Dark” must be in the Control Panels folder, Extensions folder, or System Folder. The “After Dark Files” folder must be in one of those three locations, in the Preferences folder, or on the desktop.
To use this program, choose “Update…” from the “File” menu.
This program updates After Dark, MultiModule, and Randomizer. No other After Dark modules need to be updated.
If you have renamed or removed “Randomizer” or “MultiModule” from the “After Dark Files” folder, they will not be updated.
DO NOT UPDATE YOUR AFTER DARK MASTER DISK!
When the update process is finished, select “Quit” from the “File” menu. Restart your Macintosh if the Updater indicates that it is necessary. You will then have After Dark version 2.0w.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AFTER DARK VERSION 2.0v:
(To find out which version you have, click once on the “After Dark” icon, then select “Get Info” from the “File” menu.)
• If you have the new “Star Trek: The Screen Saver,” you do NOT need this Updater. Star Trek is already compatible with System 7.1.
• If you have After Dark version 2.0, 2.0h, 2.0s, 2.0t, or 2.0u, you must upgrade to version 2.0v before you can use this 2.0w Updater. The “After Dark 2.0v Updater” is widely available on bulletin boards, and is also on the “More After Dark” and “The Art of Darkness” disks. You can also get a free upgrade to version 2.0w by mailing your After Dark master disk to the address below (please mark “ATTN: After Dark 2.0w Update”).
• If you have After Dark version 1.0, 1.1, or 1.1c, please contact Berkeley systems about upgrading to After Dark 2.0w (ask for Customer Service). This upgrade costs $14.95 (plus tax for California residents).
